Top Instagramable places in Mahiyanganaya, Sri Lanka

A slice of paradise in Mahiyangana!

Find out the best places to visit and take pictures when you are in Mahiyanganaya, Sri Lanka

Mahiyanganaya is full of adventure and excitement, so after a busy day you’ll need a calm and quiet space designed just for rest and restoration.  Keven’s Casa is a boutique hotel which not only offers amazing service they also go beyond their way to plan and arrange these beautiful experience and adventures to make your stay with them memorable.

I’m more a sunset person, but this sunrise at 5:41am at SoraBora Wewa was a blast. Basically, we woke up early in the morning, and set sail, while the rest of the crew was sleeping. Nice surprise, right? Where would you wake up tomorrow?

The hotel arranged us a beautiful breakfast experience over looking this stunning Sora Bora Lake. Right before that I was able to witness the most unreal sunset that I’ve seen it a long time.  I was also able to help the staff to make some Hoppers for the first time. Which I thought was really fun! (No beginners luck I swear my hoppers were a flop)

I had the opportunity to milk a cow, which wasn't as easy as it may seem!

Milking the cow was an experience by itself, but what was really enlightening is the process: each cow has a calf (its baby) .. the calf is brought to start breastfeeding from its mom (the cow) and once the milk starts flowing from the cow's udder the calf is separated from its mother .. and farmers begin milking the cow .. the calf resorts to eating something on the side .. then, when most of the milk is collected, the calf is free to get back to its mom to finish the last amount left in its udder!

This meant that the milk we drink is the food of a baby animal .. this gave sacredness to this milk .. the milk I still can't stop drinking, even though I would love to becoming a #vegan ...

One day maybe ...

I don't know if mass production of milk uses some methods to make cows produce milk even without having a calf .. I doubt it .. but even if that was the case, mass production, or any kind of production, involves taking away the animal's freedom .. and most likely harsh conditions as well!

If you don't want to stop drinking animal milk, at least have some appreciation .. animals have souls, feelings, and needs ...

Have you ever considered becoming a vegetarian? Or a vegan maybe?

Next we visited the Dambana wedi gammanaya

It’s sad to see this beautiful culture fading away. Met the village chief Uruwarige Wannila attho and was privileged to take a photograph with him. Here’s me standing right next to their very own radio station, YES you heard it right tune in to 95.4 every Friday to listen to non-commercialized, once-in-a-lifetime experience to mingle with the only indigenous, tribal community of the country!

After a busy day we came back to the hotel, I had a long bubble bath and head downstairs to get my self a cocktail followed by some yummy food.

Day 2 : After few attempts I finally made a lil clay pot. Become happier in your life and never stop learning, always look for ways to improve yourself!

Then we had lunch at this village small restaurant next the pottery place. Food was heavenly!

Next : After one and half hours or hiking we finally made it to Rathna Ella

And we ended the day with a night Safari !

Day 3 this is our last day here at Mahiyanganaya!

Nagadeepa Maha Wewa, What a spectacular view. You should always stop and appreciate the views around you! It was my first time I visited this place even though I’ve been to Mahiyanganaya few times. Honestly this place looks like it just popped out of a postcard!
