A slice of paradise in Giritale , Sri Lanka

📍Giritale Hotel

Sometimes, a moment to wind down and appreciate life is all we need. Waking up to the sounds of birds singing and the leaves rustling from a distance across the lake, or to even enjoy incredible sunsets from our room while sipping something strong. Our trip to Giritale has been nothing but UNREAL.

Just look at these drooling sunsets! These snapshots have become sacred treasures in my heart. Just like love at first sight, it takes your breath away, leaves you speechless and if only for a moment, slows down time. In that instant, you feel the love and gratitude for Mother Nature exude from every inch of your body.

We definitely recommend you to eat inside, this was moments before we got attacked by the monkeys.

Breakfast was really good, usually they serve Sri Lankan breakfast and this was the 2nd day we stayed at the hotel and we requested them to arrange something different for us and they were truly generous enough to arrange this wonderful spread.

However I should also add this hotel mostly (only) serve Sri Lankan food, therefore please do have less expectations when it comes to food options. But I would definitely like highlight the fact their Sri Lankan food is just like the food your grandma would make! So so good!

Right after breakfast, we made our way to the ancient city, polonnaruwa. Make sure you dedicate a whole day spend at this place, there are so much history and thing to learn from this place and you’ll have to walk a lot to see the whole city. We highly recommend you to take some water bottles and wear something more covered up. You can also get snacks and drinks from there as well.

After a whole day of walking , we came back to the hotel and got our self a Abhyanga massage which is one of the most popular and recommended therapies in Ayurveda. This practice involves rhythmically massaging warm, aromatic oils over the entire body in order to loosen toxins and relax the nervous system.

Next day we went for a evening safari at Minneriya National Park. We decided to go in the evening because the weather at Giritale is very harsh and I usually get migraines a lot and trust me it was the best decision we made!

Silence. Nothing but the sound of nature.

However we now have good news!

The hotel is now offering 10% discount on all room bookings till end of March, scan the QR code!
